Product Shuffle - Napkins

Happy last day of 2015!

Preparing for our New Year's Eve party at our home tonight, the girls asked for a Pinata. We found one on clearance for 2$ at a local store.  Here is it.
It was kind of cute, but more fitting for a birthday party than a New Year's Eve party.  So we headed to my craft room and set out to alter this pinata.
I made the numbers with my cricut using foiled cardstock from Fancy Pants Design.  I then cut a large circle in a 12X12 pattern paper I had in my stash.  Since the Pinata was about 20 inches in diameter, the 12 inch circle did not cover all the dinosaurs.  I then added glue to the back edge of my circle and added 4 ruffled napkins.  I folded the napkins accordian style and simply pressed them in the glue. Here is the finished product.
The kids are eager for the countdown and make the candies fall from our new beautifull pinata.

I hope you all have a wonderfull evening and I wish you all the best for 2016!  See you all next year!

Product Shuffle - Circle Punch

Good morning!
If you are like me, you are counting down the days until Christmas.  I love Christmas!  I watched my girls decorate the Christmas tree last weekend and it got me in the mood to start my Christmas cards.
Another really simple project for you.
All you need is pattern paper, a circle punch and some ribbon!  Simply use a circle punch to create 3 circles.  Attach a ribbon and a bow on top to create a Christmas ornament.

Super easy right?  I used scraps of Basic Grey Christmas paper and some ribbon I found in the bottom of my ribbon bin.  Here is the full card inside my Christmas tree.

I hope you all have a great day and get to spend some time crafting over the weekend! Time to make more cards!  See you soon!

Inspiration Station - Getting in shape!

Hello, everyone! Aurelie here today for another round of Let's Capture Our Memories' Inspiration Station - where I aim to inspire you by being inspired. This time around, it's all about choosing a shape and running away with it. Oh, yes! I recently saw a scrappy challenge sent out by a friend of mine, Michelle Arseneault Gallant, about using 10 of the same shape on one project. She specifically asked for triangles, circles or squares, but when I rummaged through my punches, I found heart punches and just knew I had to use those instead. Wanna see what I made? Here it is:

Now, instead of using all punched hearts from patterned papers, I also used some heart rubons, a heart-shaped enamel sticker and a heart-shaped button. It so perfectly went with the three hearts on Éloïse's little onesie she wore when she was a mere three months old. Set on a piece of white Bazzill cardstock, I mostly used a new Pebbles collection hitting the Let's Capture Memories store soon called Winter Wonderland - 6X6 patterned papers, stickers, and alpha (that glittered 3 is awesome in real life!). I also added some Heidi Swapp Color Shine, American Crafts alphas and ribbon (thanks, Elisa Delora), My Mind's Eye rubons and chalk ephemera (thanks, Stampy Pam!), a Prima button, a Jen Hadfield by Pebbles enamel sticker, a Stampin' Up paper clip, and some stiching using Crafter's Workshop and Bazzill Basics stitching templates with DMC floss.

Wanna see what Michelle made with her own challenge? It's a beauty!

Hope you're inspired to "get in shape!" Happy scrapping!!

LCOM Sketch #135 - Reveal + News

Hi everyone,

Today is bitter sweet for me.  It's the last reveal for October.  It's the last reveal for our current Design Team and it will, unfortunately, be the last reveal here for a little bit.

Although I have an AMAZING group of friends that help me with LCOM, it is still my responsibility to get things done.  As you know, I'm a full time working mother of 2 pre-teen kids. We are a very active family and in the last year, we have been dealing with health issues that make it difficult to keep on top of things here at LCOM.  The store is still open!!! I'm not closing, just stepping back a little on the online front and trying to see if we (my family) can come up with new ways to incorporate LCOM back into our internet lives.

I am so thankful for the Design Team and all their beautiful work they've created.  I am truly grateful for all of you who have followed us and supported us over the years and continue to support us in what we do.

We will still be posting our Color Spots, Inspiration Station and Product Shuffle features, although they may come to you sporadically.  Make sure you follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest to stay up to date with all LCOM news.

So, with that being said let's get to this week's reveal!!  Our sketches this month come to us from Pagemaps.  Our team members have outdone themselves yet again!

Product Shuffle : Floss Web

Good morning everyone!

With fall here in full swing and Halloween just around the corner, I had an urge to make something that goes with this time of year.  It just so happens that my daughter has friends that have their birthday on Halloween and she needed cards!  Two birds with one stone!
The only problem was that while digging into my stash, I could not for the life of me find any Halloween paper, stickers or trinkets.  While I know I have some hiding somewhere in my craft room, I'm sure they'll surface once Halloween is over.
I had an idea of creating a spider web using floss.  I started with a octogonal frame that I cut out of black cardstock.  Using a 6X6 card, I simply cut the corners to make the shape.  I then used my paper piercer to poke holes in the corners of the frame and in the middle of each section.
I used floss to first make a star shape, bringing the floss from one hole to the one on the oposite side of the frame.  I then started knoting the floss, going around the frame in a snail shape until I reached the center.

Once the web was complete, I added pattern paper to the back. I also added some Prima flowers, Alpha sticker from american crafts, ribbon from Webster's Pages and a sentiment found on a zip strip of pattern paper I found once the card was almost complete .

And there you have it!  A Halloween card made of paper and floss.  It was really very fun to make.  I hope you like it,.

LCOM Sketch #134 - Reveal

Happy Thanksgiving Weekend (in Canada)!

Thanksgiving weekend is probably our favorite long weekend of the year.  We are lucky to have a family camp in the woods about an hour from where we live.  It's the most peaceful place in the world.  No wi-fi, no electronics, no traffic, no hustle and bustle of everyday life... no indoor plumbing either!  WHAT???!!!  Nature at its best!  I'm super grateful to be able to spend time there with my family over this weekend.

I'm also grateful for this great hobby.  We have some amazing people around here and I'm excite to share with you this week's reveal.  Our sketches our from Pagemaps and the DT outdid themselves again.  Let's get to them!

Inspiration Station - Challenging each other!

Hello, everyone! Aurelie here to let you in on how I've been inspired lately which in turn will hopefully inspire you!! I recently participated in Scrapbook & Cards Today's Crop & Create Cornwall event. As this was out of province, just a few of our scrappy group were able to make it. However, while we were there, thanks to modern technology, we were able to communicate quite easily with scrappy friends from home. With this in mind, LCOM's very own Jocelyne Roy messaged us during the weekend to see if we'd like to do a one-hour challenge while we were cropping - she would send us a sketch, and we'd get one hour to get our scrap on and get it done. Doing these types of challenges often at LCOM crops, we knew how fun these are and how amazing it is to finish a layout in one hour. So, that's exactly what we did - not once, but TWICE! Now, for Jocelyne, designing two layouts in one hour is a common occurence (Crazy, I know! Hee!Hee!), but for me and the others, we had to do two separate one-hour challenges to get these done (although Cécile did get one done in 30 minutes! WOW!). Here are my two designs:

Easy peasy, lemon squeezy. The first sketch was one by Becky Fleck and the second, by Jocelyne herself. So that 's it! Get together with some scrappy friends, physically or via your favourite social media, and challenge yourselves - may it be a one-hour challenge like this, or using particular items on your designs, or even designing something using a particular collection. Make it fun! And guess what!? You just might see one of these challenges pop up one of these days on the LCOM Facebook page right here. Wouldn't it be fun to all scrap together at the same time? YAHOO!

'Til then, happy scrapping!

Aurelie
